Japan has just got it's first #carbonabsorbing House #zerocarbon #sustainable #environment #japan
So, we’re getting a news straight from Japan. Yes. Japan has just got a breakthrough with World’s first carbon-absorbing concrete. Nendo, a Japanese design studio led by Oki Sato, crafted a remarkable house in Karuizawa, Japan, featuring walls made of CO2-removing concrete, a pioneering eco-friendly material named CO2-SUICOM. This innovation, developed by Kajima, Chugoku Electric Power Co., Denka, and Landes Co., absorbs carbon dioxide during production, substantially reducing emissions. The house's design integrates concrete block walls as filter screens, strategically angled to control visibility while ensuring an attractive appearance. Approximately 2,050 blocks are stacked to form five three-meter-high walls, with living spaces nestled between them. By adjusting block angles by three degrees, privacy is maintained in each room. CO2-SUICOM achieves carbon neutrality by securely fixing absorbed CO2 within the concrete. Nendo is renowned for its inventive designs, including a unique treehouse in Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture, designed in 2012, which served as housing for both birds and humans, showcasing the studio's commitment to innovative and sustainable architecture.
